Summer Intensive 2012

FULL TIME

The Full-Time BPF and Hope Culture Summer Intensive (BHI)

  • Why an intensive?

Keeping up with our responsibilities amidst the daily grind is simply part of life. Nevertheless, there is great wisdom in taking a season of heightened consecration unto the Lord.  In these times, God thrills our hearts with His beauty in a way that equips us to walk with Him faithfully even after the time of intense consecration has ended.  Our desire is that those who take part in the Summer Intensive will not only leave with hearts bursting with fresh love for Jesus, but also with tools and “holy habits” to bring a lifestyle of prayer and worship into their high school, college, workplace, marriages, and the rest of their lives.  The vision of the Summer Intensive is to worship Jesus now and prepare the earth to worship Him forever!

  • What kind of things would we be doing?

God is a relational God.  Therefore, it is not surprising that so often when people begin to run after him with new zeal it is because the Spirit of God is using likeminded believers to provoke each other towards Himself.  For this very reason, we have structured the Full-Time intensive so that participants will be living together in host homes.  It is important for us to not only share a prayer room with believers, but life; over meals, sports, and community living.  God uses human relationships and communion with Him as the means of our sanctification into the likeness of Jesus!   Come and share a season of life with meaningful Christian community, and together learn to fall in love with God and people.

-          Prayer Room: The core of the Intensive is focused around the prayer room.  It is here that vibrant worship, communion with God, global intercession, and prayers for justice will be lived out on a daily basis.  In the prayer room we will also take the time to cultivate a lifelong love of the scriptures.

-          Reach out: As we put feet to our prayers, interns will be a go out for weekly evangelism, outreach, and even prayer walks on high school and college campuses.

-          Life together: Through community living, recreational games, service, and accountability interns will be challenged to grow in Christian character.

-          Mentoring:  Participants will receive personal mentoring catered to their specific spiritual gifts.

-          Fasting: Through an encouraged weekly fasting day and separation from media interns will learn to set their lives a part for the Lord.

-          Interns will receive classes each track which will expand the mind and the heart to know and love Jesus more.

  • Dates and Tracks

The Summer Intensive is divided into two tracks with a one week break in between.

TRACK 1: June 4-29 (move out on the 30th)

BREAK: June 30-July 5 (You get one week off)

TRACK 2: July 6-31 (move out on August 1st)

We STRONGLY recommend applicants to pray about taking part in both track 1 and track 2.  The goal of the intensive is to provide an environment where godly patterns can begin to set in and an increasing appetite for the presence of God is fostered.  This does not happen overnight.  Also, those who participate in both tracks will receive additional teaching and materials during their second track which will build upon the first track.

The Break:  A short break during a season of heightened consecration can be helpful.  Therefore, we provide a short break in the intensive.  This time is also ideal for family connects and for taking care of personal responsibilities.  Housing will continue to be provided during the break for those who wish to do both tracks and will require housing during that time (June 30-July 5).  This provision primarily has in mind those from outside the city of Birmingham who will be taking part in the both tracks and would desire to stay in town during the break.

INDIVIDUAL TRACKS:

For those who cannot do both tracks we have single track options.  We understand that summer commitments and others factors will make it impossible for some to attend both tracks.  For this reason, we have divided the BHI into two tracks.  You can do either track alone without doing the other track.  For example, someone may take track 2 without having taken track 1. Either Track 1 or Track 2 may be selected as your introductory track based on whichever is most convenient.
